If you’ve ever wanted to get more enjoyment out of your golf game and are currently feeling restricted and struggling with any aches or pains whilst playing, then this is for you! Read on to find out how Urban Body can help with a Golf Assessment.

Spring is already in the air, which for avid golfers, can only mean one thing… Golf Season is about to start.

Although golf can be enjoyed all year round, the usual UK golf season begins in April and carries on until September. Which means there is only a few weeks until you will be back on the golf course and swinging that 7 iron again.

  • Does pain stand in your way?
  • Does it mean you’re limited to how much time you spend on the green?
  • Does back ache mean you stop short of the 18th?
  • Do you suffer with aches and pains after playing?

Did you know your pain could all be down to the way you swing and the limitations or weaknesses of your body’s movement patterns?

I don’t care how “good” or “bad” your swing is – the result can ONLY get better when using the right muscles at the exact right time. That’s where we come in. We specialise in getting the muscles you already have working better!

Certified by the Titleist Performance Institute (TPI), Urban Body’s physiotherapists have a deep understanding of how the body functions during the golf swing, allowing them to show you how to improve your body’s swing performance.

Our golf screening programme examines how your movement restrictions are affecting your golf swing, by focusing on the movement, stability, strength, and flexibility of the human body in relation to striking a golf ball. We will then create a tailored programme to improve these weaknesses which will ultimately reduce the risk or injuries, potentially gain distance off the tee, improve your game and allow you to spend more time on the golf course

So, whether you have been playing golf for years, or it’s your first time, book an assessment and find out how Urban Body can keep you fit, reduce pain, reduce the risk of golf specific injuries and keep you playing for longer. You never know it may even improve your swing.

What To Expect

When you arrive for your golf assessment, we will take you through a physical screening including a golf swing assessment and a rehab programme tailored to your highlighted limitations.

Physical Screening

Your TPI certified Physiotherapist will put you through 16 specific tests to understand your mobility, stability and strength and you will be scored on a traffic light system, red (fail), green (pass) or yellow (partial pass).

The next stage is a swing evaluation which connects the screening tasks with the specific swing movements. For example, did you know that not being able to touch your toes impacts your golf setup posture?

Once we understand the limitations on your body’s movement patterns we can put together a tailored rehabilitation programme to change the way you move, or modify your swing to work around those limitations.

Bespoke Rehabilitation

Your bespoke golf-specific rehabilitation programme will usually consist of a recommended number of sessions over a minimum of 12 weeks. We will work with you, to improve stabilisation, mobility or strength together with some physiotherapy if recommended.

During your sessions, we will focus on your desired goal whether that is improving physical fitness, improving movement, increasing stamina, or reducing pain or injury.

The purpose of the Golf Assessment and rehabilitation programme is to give every golfer the opportunity to find their own optimally efficient swing by having a clear picture of what their body can and can’t do, and allow them to only do things that are reasonable and within their limitations.
